The AWA nominates Susie Blue for Best Vocalist

Susie Blue aka Solitaire Miles has been nominated for Best Western Swing Vocalist by the AWA for 2022 for her new album BLUE TRAIN.  She is in the running with four other top shelf Swing singers, including three who have toured and recorded with the notorious grammy winning band Asleep at the Wheel.  Miles and the band won “Best Song”  in 2016 for their self titled album for their arrangement of the great Cindy Walker tune “Love is a Lingering Thing”

The AWA tallies votes by DJ spins and not by popularity, so BLUE TRAIN has been getting a lot of airplay with the AWA’s few thousand DJ’s worldwide.  http://awaawards.org/?p=2575

Miles says that she’s very honored just to be in the running with such incredibly talented and experienced singers.  She had not planned BLUE TRAIN to be a Western Swing CD, but rather a crossover of Jazz, Blues, Roots and Retro Country, and couldn’t be happier to know that the album has crossed over, reaching such a wide base of listeners, including a feature in Blues Blast Magazine, in Jazz Weekly, and reaching the Top 10 on the RMR Contemporary Jazz charts this summer and the NCAA charts as well.

“We were kind of throwing our chips up into the air with this one”  Miles said, “but with great tunes written by Mel Harker, who penned BLUE TRAIN, and amazing grammy winning players like Howard Levy, you just can’t go wrong.  There is something for everyone to enjoy on BLUE TRAIN”.

The AWA Awards will be announced on October 13, 2022 and the award ceremony will be held at the Brown Lupton Ballroom in Fort Worth, Texas.  You can find more out about Susie Blue and BLUE TRAIN at the band’s  website or watch videos for the new album at their Youtube page https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZpn7JeD-w0
