Susie Blue croons a Honky Tonk Christmas 1

Chicago’s Susie Blue aka vocalist Solitaire Miles is crooning a Retro Honky Tonk  version of “White Christmas” and it’s getting a feature on BBC Radio!

The holidays can be a hectic time, but here’s a reason to close your eyes for a few minutes and let the simplicity of time and sentiment wash over you… imagine that Willie Nelson and Kitty Wells are swooning a heartfelt carol together with their forthright elegance, and that’s what you’ll hear in this duet with Austin TX vocalist Keith Weber of Cadillac Drive.   Miles’ voice is  high and plaintive, akin to Kitty Well’s and 1950’s honky tonk and Weber delivers in a conversational style much like Nelson’s.   Together they  transform this  holiday crooner classic into colloquial roots music by resisting the overplay of seasonal emotion… their storytelling remains curtailed – both sentimental and stoic.  For 2 and a half minutes you can breathe deep, relax your mind and let yourself fall back into their notes,  forgetting the business and bustle of the holiday.  Have a shot or your favorite libation or just simply breathe in the peace.   May your days be Merry and Bright! – Jean M Reid
