Prairie Crossroads Blues Fest Returns August 14th

The Prairie Crossroads Blues Society announces their third annual Blues Fest will take place Saturday, Aug. 14 from 1:30 to 10 p.m. CDT at the Champaign County Fairgrounds, Urbana, IL. Gates open at 1 p.m. CDT. The event will be held rain or shine.

Kilborn Alley Blues Band, a homegrown legend of the Champaign, IL area, will headline the show. Other bands include Johnny Rawls, Ivy Ford, Smiley Tillmon featuring Kate Moss and William Marsala. Gerry Hundt’s Legendary One Man Band and Jesse Cotton Stone will dominate the solo/duo stage. Music will alternate between two stages for nearly continuous blues music.

Johnny Rawls has won two Blues Music Awards for Soul Blues Album, 2010 for Ace of Spades and 2019 for I’m Still Around. Ivy Ford made the finals of the 2019 International Blues Challenge, one of the top eight bands out of more than 150 competing in Memphis, TN. Performers will be coming from Mississippi, Central Illinois, Chicago and Northern Illinois to present a variety of blues styles.

Tickets are $15 in advance through Aug. 12 at or $20 at the gate. Food trucks and beer are available at the fest site (no coolers please). Fest attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair. Rooms are blocked at Eastland Suites, Urbana, IL.
