Neptune’s Core – Turning Red (New Single)

Neptune’s Core came together in 2018 when two sets of sisters were inspired to start a band while studying music and hanging around Chicago clubs and festivals. They released two self-recorded singles in Spring of 2019 and their debut album, Can’t Have It All, was released in Fall 2020.

A number of tracks from Can’t Have It All received regular airplay on WKQX 101.1 and WCXP 107.1 CHIRP Radio in Chicago. James VanOsdol of WKQX interviewed the band on his podcast. The week of 9/21/20, WCXP 107.1 CHIRP Radio placed Can’t Have It All as the #1 album on their top 50 albums list.

WCXP 107.1 CHIRP called the album “a triumph… best described as a cross-between alt-rock and singer-songwriter tunes with strong harmonies… like a mix of Soccer Mommy, Fiona Apple, The Bangles, and Vivian Girls with smart arrangements and terrific lead vocals”.

The album appeared in a number of CHIRP DJ “best album of the year” lists at #7, #10, and as honorable mentions with comments such as “powerful indie rock that transcends their youth… echoes the sound of great women’s rock like Courtney Barnett… such a pleasant surprise.”

The band is currently finalizing songs for a new album to be released later in 2021. Their first single from that upcoming album, Turning Red, was released for streaming in March 2021.

The band thrives playing live and has performed in clubs, festivals, and record stores all over the Chicago and Milwaukee areas. They win audiences over and make new friends everywhere they play.

Neptune’s Core writes, arranges, and performs all their own original music.
