Chicago, IL – Lollapalooza returns to Chicago for its 30th anniversary, after a one year hiatus due to COVID-19 and day one was a tremendous success!
While many (including myself) shared concerns of it being too soon for Lollapalooza to return while the delta variant cases surge, we’ll just have to put our trust in the science and hope that everyone in attendance was truly vaccinated or tested negative, a lot to hope for, I know.
The day started smoothly with attendees being allowed to enter roughly ten minutes early to allow the screeners and bag checkers to process the fans through. So the fans had a little over an hour for selfies around Grant Park or to take in the beauty that is Chicago before the first artists took to the stage.
Tristan Simone and DJ Mel were the first two artists to perform, getting this whole fest started and DJ Mel kicked the beats off in a great way, pulling in more festival goers by the minute.
Cupcake Vineyards, the official wine sponsor of Lollapalooza, returns to sweeten your experience with their fine, better-for-you wines that have only 80 cals and 8% ALC/VOL per 5 oz. serving! Make sure you try their latest wine, Cupcake LightHearted while exploring their interactive, beautifully decorated space which includes multiple lounging areas, a live DJ, photo backdrops for your social media sharing pleasure and an overall incredible festival enhancing experience. They are located across from the new Bonus Tracks stage, which (at least temporarily) takes the place of Kidzpalaooza this year. You can learn more about Cupcake Vineyards here https://www.cupcakevineyards.com/, so make sure you pay them a visit in these last three days.
1:15pm – 2:00pm – Grammy Award Winner, Ant Clemons brought the soul back to Chicago with smooth vocals filling the air, heavy bass lines and ripping, bluesy guitar solos. He performed the songs, “Better Days“, “Story Of My Life” and also debuted his new single “Appreciation” which features tydollasign and 2chainz.
Ant Clemons is truly a remarkable talent and hopefully in a year or two we’ll see him back here again headlining next time! – Visit his official site for tour dates and more: https://www.antclemons.com/
2:10pm – 2:50pm – Singer-songwriter, Taylor Janzen who is from Winnipeg, Manitoba took the BMI stage at 2:10 and performed her wonderfully unique blend of emotionally charged music on the most ‘chill’ stage in Grant Park. The audience was feeling her vibe as she performed both acoustically and with her full band during her set. – https://www.taylorjanzen.com/
5:00pm – 6:30pm – Jimmy Eat World and All Time Low performed to full capacity crowds with fans of both bands emphatically mouthing along to lyrics, jumping, clapping, and just loving the energies that both bands fed the audience on this truly remarkable day.
6:30pm – 7:15pm – Swung over to the Grubhub stage for Ashe’s performance. The genuine personality of Ashlyn Rae Willson who goes by the name of Ashe was so wonderfully evident as she performed very emotional songs for her fans which included hits, “Till Forever Falls Apart” and “Moral Of The Story” and a couple covers of “Time After Time” and Queen’s “Somebody To Love”. She expressed her concern about not messing it up and how important it was to her. Ashe goes on tour starting next month! Visit her site here https://ashe-music.com/ for tour dates and more!

8:45pm – 10:00pm – Miley Cyrus performed a wonderful set filled with favorites from her latest album, Plastic Hearts, like “WTF Do I Know“, “Midnight Sky“, and “Night Crawling” which featured Billy Idol and she started off her set with “We Can’t Stop” from her 2013 album Bangerz. Miley had other special guests like Juicy J, Wiz Khalif, G Herbo, Benny the Bull and Kid Laroi throughout the set and performed beyond the 10pm expectation.
