Crawlers Invade Lollapalooza [INTERVIEW]

All the way from Liverpool, Crawlers invaded Lollapalooza! They hunt… They feed… They kill… You’re next! Oh, wait a moment! These Crawlers are the good kind that play kick ass music and take over your mind to buy their music and merchandise! Not ‘The Crawlers‘ horror movie from 1991 in which people from a small town are attacked by evil radioactive tree roots growing in the forest.
Having landed in Chicago only a few days earlier, the band had plenty of time to rest up, explore, take in a few shows like Dua Lipa, Muna and Metallica and prepare to perform on one of the two biggest stages that Lollapalooza has to offer, The Bud Light Seltzer stage. I cannot think of any better welcome to Chicago than that!
When asked about the their concert preparations, they said, “vocal warmups, guitar and bass runs, Harry plays on practice pads and we blast Charli XCX as loud as we can.” Holly continued, “I always do a bit of stretches…” and then Harry jumped in saying “I religiously have one beer before we go on stage.”
Liv said, “I know it sounds a bit antisocial, but I will stay on my phone for a little bit which is probably a good thing because if I think about it too much, I’ll get too stressed out and I get too nervous and I mess up all my lines. It’s easier if I just tap out for a bit and just go on and do it.” Amy was strangely quiet…hmm.
The band played a 45 minute set in the blinding afternoon sun while Holly ran around the stage in her bare feet no less! Was she mugged in some Chicago alley? No, Holly is always so active on stage that she didn’t want to blister her feet and it makes total sense and she was awesome on stage, as was Liv, Amy and Harry!
As compared with other festivals Crawlers have played, Lollapalooza got a great compliment from the band in how well run it was and how welcoming everyone was to them, and that is something I too have seen and experienced as well. Great experiences all around from security and staff.
In addition to their set at Lollapalooza, they also had the opportunity to open up for Porno For Pyros at the iconic Metro which just celebrated its 40th anniversary last month!
Their latest single, Fuck Me (I Didn’t Know How To Say) was performed on stage with great responses and Holly had this to say about it… “It’s been one of our fastest growing songs, especially when it’s not something really spoken about. It’s something we’ve kind of had an ideology for to be able to put those feelings out and create a safe space for it.” You could tell that they’re very proud of the song too, and rightfully so!
The last question asked was a fun one, what is the weirdest thing they’ve seen online and their answers ranged from a guy who peels a shell while leaving a membrane, Liv watching spot popping videos and a horrible film about a bean that is a super spy that Holly made Liv watch? Interesting stuff, but the internet sure can be a strange place to explore sometimes.
Maybe we’ll make the video available on TikTok, speaking of which, check out Liv’s Jennifer Coolidge celebrity impersonation here!
The band are currently in L.A. working with a producer they’ve wanted to work with for a long time now, so, we’ll have to see how all that pans out, in the meantime, they have a lot of sold out tour dates, and more festivals coming up!
Follow them on their socials and normally, I would never recommend joining a cult, but you can join the Crawlers Cult, it’s ok, it’s safe… go ahead!
