Michael Murphy – “Geronimo’s Cadillac”

Most of us know Michael Murphy from the hit song “Wildfire” and a great song it was. It made me want to play acoustic 12-string. But his real launch to fame in my humble opinion was “Geronimo’s Cadillac”. This to me is the definitive sound of Michael Murphy. It has well thought out lyrics, nice melodies and excellent arrangements for a folk-style sound that borders on Pop but doesn’t sell-out. If you want to be a songwriter, you MUST listen to his music and pay close attention to the details. Nothing fancy here, no sweep arpeggios, no dive-bomb antics, just good, solid writing. If you get the chance, pick it up, listen and learn.
