The Academy Is "Almost Heret" Review
By: Dennis M. Kelly
05/05/05

Was is only 32 minutes?

The album entitled "Almost Here" from the band, The Academy is... is so well produced that the time literally flies. The ten track album borders on the rock and alternative styles of music and is very easy for the average listener of any age to enjoy.

The vocals of William Beckett are smooth as are his harmonies with Tom Conrad. Andy Mrotek’s drums are solid and while he does have moments of fast drum-play, it never feels like he is pounding on your head. The guitars played by Mike Carden and Tom Conrad have a great sound and are further accentuated by Adam Siska’s steady bass.

Full of youthful energy, these guys rock their socks off and their career has only just begun. The sounds of "Almost Here," could best be summed up like summer on the beach, or rolling the windows of your car down and blasting the album as you drive down the highway. It is an excellent, positive "feel good" album and a brilliant first effort for a band so young.

We at the Chicago Music Guide are very pleased to see another example of great talent coming from our great city of Chicago.

Be sure to check them out in Rockford 5/6 at the Forest Hills Lodge and then 5/7 in Chicago at the Riviera.
