INTERVIEW
An Interview with: Hinder
By: Chris Walker

1. You state on your website that you want to be the band to get people back into rock again, so how do you differentiate yourselves from bands like Buckcherry or Jet?
We are a straight up fun rock n roll band that just loves to have fun and we want to make sure anybody that comes to our shows has a fun time as well. If those bands like to have fun that's great too, but our sound is completely different.

2. You seem to write a lot about bittersweet relationships, even your first single 'Get Stoned' seems to tell a story about a relationship gone bad and you're just sticking around because the "sex is better when you're angry". Can you tell me why you focus on these types of feelings more than any other?
We just right from personal experiences and stick to writing about what we know.I guess a lot of people can relate to our songs, so that is a good feeling.

3. You have been compared to bands like Aerosmith, and the Rolling Stones. How have these bands influenced you guys, if at all?
Those are my 2 favorite bands of all time, and i think it for sure shows when you come see us live because of my stage presence, or so i have been told.

4. How has originating from Oklahoma City shaped your sound and philosophies on music?
I think that we all grew up listening to guns n roses and aerosmith, so whenever we got together to write the album,we wanted to Make a big rock record and our influences bled through in our sound and writing. As far as being from Oklahoma we were able to build a huge following because we were the only real rock local band at the time, all the other local bands tried to do the "cool New York or LA" thing and that does not work in middle America, so it was an advantage for us.

5. Where do you see yourselves fitting into the overall historical sense of the current period in music?
Hopefully we can be the band that makes rock music the biggest thing in the world again, like in the 80's. I am not saying bring back spandex, we just want rock to be fun and huge again. We need more bands out there that like to have a good time.

6. Where do you plan on heading next with your music?
We just want to continue to write good songs that our fans can enjoy.

7. Have you guys written any songs for the follow up to your major label debut- "Extreme Behavior"? When do you plan on getting back into the studio?
Yes, we have and we are trying some out live that are going over really well. As far as recording we will be in the studio in December.

8. Your website seems to be geared toward your fans, celebrating them, showing them off with your 'fan of the week' section, etc. Can you describe your relationship with your fans and how you went about building the local following that seemed to help propel you into your current place in the rock spotlight?
Fans are the most important part of your career, without them we would not be where we are today. As far as our local following goes, it started out as all our friends and just got around by word of mouth. Shows started getting bigger and we would go out and party with the fans afterwards. We love our fans.

9. How did you guys meet, what brought you all together?
We met at a house party, I would have to say alcohol and girls. Oh yeah and music!

10. Are you all into the same music, or do you each sort of travel your own path with influences.
We all pretty much share the same musical taste, of course we all have our own that nobody else in the band share.

11. What bands do you guys like now? Who would you like to tour with?
We always find ourselves going back to guns n roses and motley cure . I think we all would love to tour with the guns n roses of 1987.

12. What equipment have you guys been playing before your success, and has success changed what you play on now? What would you play on if money was no object
I personally played les Paul guitars, and mesa heads but I dont play guitar on stage anymore.

Thanks for your time!
