Whether dark, playful or in your face jammin' his presence on the stage commands attention from all sides of the room. This band loves a good time.

Ambitious, yet down to earth. Blues meet funk meet neo-soul.

The Chris Canas Blues Revolution can be seen blazing a trail in the Metro Detroit area and beyond. The front man, Chris Canas; self proclaimed soldier for the blues, has put together a who’s who of veteran musicians to help keep the blues alive in the hearts of all music lovers. The C2B Revolution has a well blended set of classic covers and funky smooth originals that keep the audience jumping and the party going. The group is as diverse as they come with interesting backgrounds in music.

This band is driven to pump new life into “The Blues” as well as embracing the rich traditional roots of the past. Brace yourselves for the Explosion.

1. How old are you?
I am 21 years old. My mother says that I have an old soul.

2. When did you start up with guitar?
I first learned the cornet and played in a jazz quartet. I then started playing the guitar at age 15. My mom bought me my first guitar at age 7 but I broke the strings and didn’t play for years.

3. Did you take any lessons for your guitar or vocals?
No, I have never had lessons.

4. When did you first put your band together?
I put the band together in 2003 for the International Blues Challenge and we have been going ever since.

5. How did you find them?
It’s been hard. We found each other at jams and shows. I also submitted online ads and put fliers up at the music stores.

6. Do you often find yourself being the youngest in the crowd?
Yes. It’s very hard to find musicians my age that appreciate Blues music. I hope to change that one day.

7. What do you feel are your strengths musically?
Diversity. I love to mix it up a bit. I like pushing the genre’.

8. Do you manage yourself?
In a way. I have help from my family. My mother is manages a lot.

9. Tell us a little more about each of your bands background?
I play some solo acoustic shows on occasion. Mainly, The Chris Canas Blues Revolution perform together. They are older than I am and have played in various bands. A few of them have played with some famous musicians and do some session work. We have been playing the Detroit – Ann Arbor area for a while now. We will be playing the Mohican Blues Festival in August. We have various influences from jazz to rock, funk, R&B, and the keyboard player even plays punk with some folks.

10. What percentage of cover to original music do you play?
It depends on the venue. We play about 50/50. We mix a lot of originals with covers in our shows. Most people want to hear the standards I like to mix it up to keep the interest.

11. Are you set up with any distributors for your albums yet?
Not yet. I hope to soon have someone that want to get our sound out there. It’s not like it use to be. I do use CD Baby and our website. Just some independent sites.

12. What are some general themes of your songs?
Life, love and heartache. Emotions. I have written songs about hard times, driving a rusty hooptie, hot women, even zombies. I really like songs for dancing and having a good time.

13. What or who was your first musical love?
BB King and the Blues. I like other music too. I listen to country, classical, R&B, folk and even some Hip/Hop but when I heard “The Thrill Is Gone” by BB King, I was hooked.

14. Have you performed here in the Chicago area yet?
Not yet. We are trying to get here. I know that Chicago’s music scene is jumping. I couldn’t play a lot of places because of my age. Now that I’m 21, I’m ready.

15. Where would you like to see yourself in 2 years?
Performing at an awards show. I want this genre’ to go mainstream with videos on MTV and everything. I don’t remember seeing too many blues artist on the grammys. I want to be there. I want to tour with the big names.
