RAY LAMONTAGNE TO RELEASE THIRD ALBUM, GOSSIP IN THE GRAIN ON SEPTEMBER 9TH

Lauded singer/songwriter, Ray LaMontagne is set to release his much-anticipated third album, Gossip In The Grain, on September 9th on RCA Records. Recorded with returning producer, Ethan Johns in Box, England, and touching upon a range of styles and musical settings- spanning pastoral folk, railroad blues, front porch country, and plangent balladry - Gossip In The Grain proves to be his most creative and emotionally expansive collection to date.

Whereas LaMontagne's two previous albums, Trouble and Till The Sun Turns Black, were largely solo affairs, with Johns serving as multi-tasking instrumentalist, Gossip In The Grain sees him joined by members of his touring band, bassist Jennifer Condos and guitarist Eric Heywood (with Johns largely handling drum duties). Along with his band members, LaMontagne is also joined on two tracks - "A Falling Through" and "I Still Care For You" - by singer/songwriter Leona Naess.

As LaMontagne explains "It was time to open up a little bit more, not be quite so reserved in my choice of songs that I wanted to record. I'm really very critical of myself and it's sort of a process of opening up. I felt like I was in the right space to show that side of myself." Recently called by Vanity Fair "a fresh reminder that the genuine artist is not yet an extinct species," Gossip In The Grain reconfirms Ray LaMontagne as an artist and a craftsman without limits, a songwriter who is able to work his melodic gifts and distinctive lyricism through any of the myriad musical traditions that catches his fancy.

Tracklisting:
1. Let It Be Me
2. Hey Me, Hey Mama
3. Sarah
4. I Still Care For You
5. Winter Birds
6. Meg White
7. Achin' All The Time
8. Henry Nearly Killed Me (It's A Shame)
9. A Falling Through
10. Gossip In The Grain

I-GO Car Sharing Announces 2nd Annual
Audio Emissions CD Featuring Wilco

Bands Compete and Chicago Votes for 2008 Driving Music

(Chicago, IL) I-GO Car Sharing is currently assembling its second annual compilation of songs from Chicago’s coolest and most popular bands. Already committed to this year’s project are fan favorites Wilco and Neko Case.

Local bands can compete for a chance to be heard by I-GO’s growing membership by submitting songs through I-GO’s website from Tuesday, May 27th until Thursday, June 5th. Chicago residents will then have the opportunity to pick their favorites from Friday, June 6th until Friday, June 14th through I-GO’s website and also a voting kiosk at the June 6th First Friday at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

“While I-GO members don’t spend a lot of time in cars, when they do, we want to provide them with fun, new music that they like and choose. By providing this cd, it’s also a way for us to thank our members not only for their business but their commitment to reduce car usage and carbon emissions,” said Sharon Feigon, CEO of I-GO Car Sharing.

As 2007 winner Bille D testifies, "I-GO has done a wonderful job of bringing together talented artists from Chicago's independent music scene under a cause that facilitates collaboration, collectivism, and preservation."

Launched in 2002 as a pilot project supported by the City of Chicago and the U.S. Department of Transportation, I-GO is a nonprofit company with more than 8,000 members and a fleet of 185 low-emission, fuel-efficient vehicles currently operating in more than 30 Chicago neighborhoods, Evanston and Oak Park. I-GO aims to reduce car ownership rates, lower family transportation costs, reduce urban congestion and improve air quality in all neighborhoods. Members reserve a car online or by phone, they use and return the car, all for one hourly rate that covers gas and insurance.

Bands who want to compete for a spot on Audio Emissions can submit songs at
www.igocars.org/igoaudioemissions.

Last year’s edition of Audio Emissions included Chicago artists like Andrew Bird, Koko Taylor, Devil in the Woodpile, Mucca Pazza and Billie D.

Press Release-
In a society that so often focuses on the bleak situation for urban youth, New Life Covenant Church intends to highlight the outstanding potential of youth in the local Humboldt Park community. In collaboration with the Chicago Department of Police, the Chicago Public Schools, and politicians from the 26th Ward, they will be hosting a Youth Summit and Achievement Ceremony on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 from 12:30-2 pm. As a part of this project, 10 students from each of ten local area Chicago Public Schools will be honored for their academic excellence, upon recommendation from their principal.

This effort has support from both Arne Duncan, CEO of the Chicago Public Schools, and Superintendent Jody Weis of the Chicago Police Department, who will feature as guest speakers of this pivotal event. The summit will be held as an open panel discussion for students to ask questions and strategize regarding current solutions and policies for resolving crime and violence amongst urban youth.

During the summit, the honorees will also be challenged to make a commitment to stand against violence and to continue to raise the bar through academic achievement. The summit will be held at the New Life Community Center, located at 2704 W. North Ave. Chicago, IL 60647.

As a follow-up to the summit, community members are invited to stand in solidarity against violence in the Humboldt Park community. On May 30, local area churches, schools, politicians, and community residents will stand together for another EX 20:13 event. At 6:30 pm, on Friday, May 30th, these groups will gather at local area schools to march and protest against violence. From these locations, groups will march toward the Humboldt Park boathouse where the gathering will conclude with a rally.

Please support the upcoming Ex 20:13 event on May 30, 2008 at 6:30pm by meeting at your local school to march. It is imperative that we “keep the momentum,” and not let this issue of violence go to the wayside. Our response must not just be emotionally driven; it must be a commitment to make a lasting impact on our society.

Looking for a unique blues experience?

Corky Siegel's Chamber Blues is just what you've been waiting for! Corky and Chamber Blues will perform songs from their latest Alligator release, CORKY SIEGEL'S TRAVELING CHAMBER BLUES SHOW!, Friday, May 30th at Northeastern Illinois University Auditorium in Chicago.

Chamber Blues is an intriguing musical mix of Chicago blues harmonica and piano interacting with violin, viola, cello and percussion.

Corky is renowned for his recordings and shows in the late 1960s and early 1970s with the Siegel-Schwall Blues Band, but Siegel offered up a new vision in 1994 with his groundbreaking Alligator release, Corky Siegel's Chamber Blues. The music integrates the structure and complex qualities of chamber music with the emotion and spontaneity of the blues.

The Chicago Tribune said, "Gritty Chicago blues and rarified classical chamber music might not seem like a match made in heaven--until you've heard Corky Siegel bring the two together--a crowning achievement." Come and witness this groundbreaking musical experience for yourself!
