The Erato Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Richard Haglund, will present “Mozart’s Letters” on March 27 at 7:30 pm at St. Pauls Church,2335 N. Orchard St., Chicago, Ill. to benefit Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (CURE).

Music Director Richard Haglund and the Erato Chamber Orchestra will perform the following works: Mozart’s Symphony #1 and Symphony #41, Overture to Bastien und Bastienne, Violin Concerto #4, and Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. The evening’s performance will include visual enhancement with projections of Mozart’s images and an appearance by Mozart played by actor and conductor Seth Winterhalter, who will read from Mozart’s letters.

Distinguished violinist Michael Antonello will be the soloist on the 4th Violin Concerto by Mozart playing a 290-year-old Stradivarius, the famous “Ex-Rochester” from 1720. Antonello’s energetic style with a masterful ability to command the sound of a violin has been described as someone who can “...elicit tears, laughter, and a standing ovation”.

Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (CURE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding a cure for epilepsy by raising funds for research and by increasing awareness of the prevalence and devastation of the disease. According to CURE founder and Board Chair Susan Axelrod, “CURE is grateful for the warm support of the Erato Chamber Orchestra and thrilled for what promises to be a fantastic show. It is inspiring that ECO—also a non-profit—has extended a hand to CURE. This is a rare opportunity to raise awareness and crucial epilepsy research funds while also enjoying a concert from some of Chicago’s most gifted performers.”

The Erato Chamber Orchestra is comprised of Chicago’s finest musicians who have a common affection for making and sharing music. The ensemble's programs are devoted to both classical and contemporary repertoire that is not ordinarily played by large symphony orchestras. Their name is inspired by the Greek goddess Erato, who is the Muse of Lyric Poetry. The orchestra's style is characterized by a warm sound and virtuosic talent combined with an infectious enjoyment of the pleasure of making music.
