CHICAGO SINGER/SONGWRITER DYLAN LLOYD
TO PERFORM SONGS FROM HIS DEBUT EP THE TRINITY
ACROSS THE REGION THROUGHOUT THE SPRING
At just 22 years old, Chicago born and bred singer/songwriter DYLAN LLOYD has already showcased an ability to craft poignant songs in a multitude of genres by infusing soul, pop, blues and rock. His impressive catalog spans celebrated work with previous outfits PANGEA and LOOSE CHANGE, and with the 2009 release of his debut solo EP THE TRINITY, Lloyd has set the stage for a leap to the forefront of today’s music scene.
Throughout the spring, Dylan Lloyd will bring songs from his debut EP to live audiences across the region with the following performances:
Thu
4/16
University Of Illinois - Chicago
Chicago, IL
Fri
4/24
Moraine Valley Community College
Palos Hills, IL
Sat

Chicago, IL
Thu
4/30
Flavor
Flossmoor, IL
Fri

Sat

Taking cues from a span of influences and artistic inspirations shaped the musical progression of THE TRINITY EP. Classic essentials of Billy Joel, Prince, Elton John and The Beatles meet modern principles of pop and rock from the likes of Ben Folds, Foo Fighters and John Mayer on the debut disc. “The songs for me are an unconscious refreshment to the brain,” explains Dylan. “They are fresh songs that at the same time maintain elements of something old that may have been forgotten about in the music that people love.”
TINTED WINDOWS CELEBRATE ALBUM RELEASE WITH APPEARANCES ON LETTERMAN, FALLON; CLUB SHOWS IN NY, LA, CHICAGO; AND DATES WITH NO DOUBT
Tinted Windows, the acclaimed new band comprised of Taylor Hanson, James Iha, Adam Schlesinger, and Bun E. Carlos, will celebrate the April 21st release of their highly-anticipated debut album with a flurry of activity, including late night television appearances, intimate club dates and appearances with No Doubt in Atlantic City and at the Bamboozle Festival.
The group - which the New York Times called "a multi-generational alliance devoted to power pop" - will perform on The Late Show with David Letterman on April 21st and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on April 23rd. The band has also confirmed shows at NYC's Mercury Lounge (April 20), LA's Troubadour (April 28), and Chicago's Double Door (April 30). Tinted Windows will also support No Doubt at their first show in five years at Atlantic City's Borgata on May 2 and then again at the Bamboozle Festival in NJ's Meadowlands on May 3.
Since their live unveiling at South By Southwest in March, critics have described Tinted Windows' sound as "hook crammed power pop jams" (Spin), "pure power pop", (Rolling Stone), and "more or less exactly a fusion of those four sensibilities...it's hard to deny the playfulness and joy at the heart of it" (NPR). The Chicago Sun-Times said "the new supergroup...qualifies as one of the strangest ever assembled, but...also promises to be one of the most artistically successful...[they] played with bountiful exuberance and ample confidence."
Taylor Hanson (lead vocals) is best known as a member of Hanson, the multi-million-selling trio of brothers from Tulsa who have been recording and touring since 1992. James Iha (guitar) was one of the original members of the Smashing Pumpkins, and has also been a member of A Perfect Circle and a solo artist. Adam Schlesinger (bass) is in the bands Fountains Of Wayne and Ivy. Bun E. Carlos (drums) is the drummer of the legendary Cheap Trick, with whom he has played since the group's inception in 1974.
The album "TINTED WINDOWS" (available in stores and at digital retailers April 21 on S-Curve Records) is a stripped-down, high energy record that combines the strengths and identifiable styles of each member without ever really sounding like anything else any of the four has done elsewhere. The album contains leadoff single "Kind Of A Girl", which is already at radio. The deadpan performance video for the song on fictional late night show "Rock After Dark" was a blogosphere hit, and it has also recently been heard in promos for ABC's "Samantha Who?"
The band will continue to perform throughout the year in support of their album. More dates and events will be announced shortly at tintedwindowsmusic.com.

JENNIE DEVOE TO RELEASE BRAND-NEW ALBUM, STRANGE SUNSHINE, ON JULY 21ST
INDIANAPOLIS-BASED SOUL SINGER-SONGWRITER’S FOURTH INDEPENDENTLY RELEASED ALBUM PRODUCED BY PJ HARVEY COLLABORATOR JOHN PARISH
April 13th, 2009 — New York, NY — Soul-blues singer and songwriter Jennie DeVoe will release her fourth independent album, entitled Strange Sunshine, on July 21st. A digital version will be available via such online retailers as iTunes, while a physical CD, released though DeVoe’s own label Rubin The Cat, will be distributed by Sony Red Distribution, the independent arm of Sony Music. The CD’s first single Butterfly will go to “Triple A” radio on June 1st.
Anchored by her powerhouse, gospel-inflected voice, DeVoe’s music has an earthy charm that is totally without artifice. She makes a stirring soulful statement on Strange Sunshine, which — though inspired by the raw emotional quality of such legends as Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, and Etta James — sounds thoroughly Jennie, with its freewheeling spirit, sassy, confessional lyrics, and sultry retro grooves. Musically narrated by tremolo guitar, snatches of Mellotron and Hammond B3 organ, and retro-sounding drums, the songs address everything from seizing the day (first single “Butterfly”), love on the rocks (“Strange Sunshine”), having crappy days (“Nobody Loves You”), getting lost with no directions on the road (“Exit 229”), living in a man’s world (“No Damn Man”), devastating heartbreak (“I Break Down”), the rollercoaster of relationships (“Map of the World”), and feeling broken-down but still having hope (“Blind Faith”).
“My subject matter is fairly reality-based,” DeVoe says, “which is what I've always loved about records by Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Billie Holiday, and Otis Redding. They’re just singing about life. I tend to keep one foot in the old school world of soul while always searching for new inspirations. I wanted Strange Sunshine to feel free and loose and be steeped in emotion. That’s what I crave when I listen to music and that’s what I strive for on each of my albums.”
To help her realize her vision, DeVoe flew herself and her band to Bath, England, to record with John Parish, a British producer and multi-instrumentalist known for his work with PJ Harvey, Tracy Chapman, and The Eels. He also produced DeVoe’s well-received 2004 album Fireworks & Karate Supplies. “There’s something about John’s work that I feel is brave, fresh, raw, and sincere,” DeVoe says. “The albums he’s produced, like Polly Harvey’s To Bring You My Love and Tracy Chapman’s Let It Rain, are moody and make you feel like what you’re hearing from the artist is intentional and truly emotional. That’s how I wanted Fireworks to sound. But that album is a bit heavier in mood than this new one. Sunshine has more freedom and lightness in its step, and more light-heartedness and simplicity in the lyrics. John is a true minimalist, like me, and as a musician, he knows the language of each instrument. He kept the sessions grounded.”
Strange Sunshine is sure to delight DeVoe’s longtime fans, who’ve followed her every move since the Indianapolis-based artist released her first album, Does She Walk on Water in 1998. She followed that up in 2000 with Ta Da and won first place in a Billboard World Song contest for “Best Pop Song” in 2004. Her songs caught the ear of a music supervisor with Sony/Columbia/Tri-Star, who placed them in such shows as Dawson’s Creek, Joan of Arcadia, and Strong Medicine. In 2004, DeVoe released Fireworks & Karate Supplies, which earned strong reviews, regional radio play, and sold more than 15,000 copies to fans captivated by DeVoe’s engaging live performances. Over the years, she’s performed all over the country and opened for such artists as Sting, Bonnie Raitt, Lyle Lovett, Joe Cocker, Lucinda Williams, Jack Johnson, Susan Tedeschi, Ray Charles, Emmylou Harris, Dar Williams, Gavin DeGraw, Blues Traveler, and Edwin McCain. As McCain himself has put it: “The only difference between Jennie DeVoe and a big-label artist is corporate dollars.”
Discover that for yourself when Strange Sunshine is released this summer. For more on Jennie DeVoe, please visit her website at www.jenniedevoe.com.
THE SOUNDS GEAR UP FOR NEW ALBUM,
CROSSING THE RUBICON DUE OUT JUNE 2ND
PARTNER WITH ORIGINAL SIGNAL RECORDINGS (OSR) FOR NORTH AMERICAN RELEASE
(New York, NY) - Original Signal Recordings is proud to announce the release of CROSSING THE RUBICON, the highly anticipated album from Swedish quintet The Sounds. Set for a June 2nd release, CROSSING THE RUBICON, follows up the successful DYING TO SAY THIS TO YOU, which caught the attention of many for it's fist-pumping rock, club anthems and sexed up new wave.
As a band who has carved out their career by doing things their own way, The Sounds formed their own label, Arnioki Records, and created CROSSING THE RUBICON before choosing a label to partner with, giving them complete control in a rapidly evolving music industry. A partnership with OSR is perfect for a band that deserves to benefit from the career they have built thus far. Together, they will seek innovative and dynamic ways to develop the band in a new climate.
Original Signal Recordings Co-Founder Lucas Mann commented, "We are incredibly excited about partnering with The Sounds, not only because they have made a record that we love, but because it further validates the idea that the future of our business is really about talent and hard work within an equitable deal structure. The Sounds personify that work ethic, having built a name brand mainly by true word of mouth and without the benefit of big radio, and we are excited to help take that to the next level." Band manager John Davis adds, "The Sounds have always been forward thinking leaders; through their music, their fashion, and now how they approach the business of music. We are thrilled to have formed a true partnership with OSR where the band have the ability to express themselves creatively, and in a new business model."
Over the last few years, The Sounds have garnered a massive fanbase built upon non-stop touring, two acclaimed records, great film/TV and video game placements and an organic word of mouth response. Renowned for their intense and exuberant live shows, The Sounds have captivated fans around the world by playing more than 500 shows in support of their last album, selling out major venues in over 25 countries worldwide, including the legendary Hollywood Palladium (to the delight of 4,000 fans). The band has been confirmed as support for No Doubt this summer, along with a series of headlining dates (please see below for North American itinerary).
Recorded in Sweden, Los Angeles and New York, CROSSING THE RUBICON continues to deliver gripping hook-filled songs full of the punch and swagger that helped bring the Swedish quintet from Helsingborg to the world. With songs that have an undeniable energy, like the dance electro-funk of "Beatbox," and the powerful combination of heartfelt emotion, soaring guitars and synth-pop on first single "No One Sleeps When I'm Awake," the new album presents a deeper version of the sound that established the band as one to watch.
Original Signal Recordings is a full-service independent record label with major label distribution and works with a wide range of artists including: Ingrid Michaelson, Butch Walker, The Bronx, Longwave, David Ford and Blanche.

REGINA SPEKTOR ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM, FAR
SET FOR A JUNE 23rd RELEASE ON SIRE RECORDS
Sire Records and Regina Spektor are very proud to announce the release of FAR; the highly anticipated follow up to Spektor's gold album BEGIN TO HOPE. Set for a June 23rd release, FAR continues to reveal new layers in Spektor's songwriting as she pursues the next level in her inimitable musical style. With her uninhibited imagination and her hands on approach in the studio, FAR not only succeeds with 13 impressive and accessible tracks, but it spotlights Spektor's remarkable gift to craft intelligent and refreshingly honest odes to life. Four exceptional producers collaborated with Spektor on FAR: Jeff Lynne (ELO, The Traveling Wilburys), Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Eminem), David Kahne (Paul McCartney, The Strokes) and Garret "Jacknife" Lee (Weezer, REM).
Captivating audiences with songs that are distinctively her own, BEGIN TO HOPE, allowed Spektor to go from hypnotizing small crowds to selling out 3,000 capacity venues worldwide with what Rolling Stone praised as "one of the most intensely joyful rock shows we've seen." BEGIN TO HOPE also spent 5 weeks in a row at #1 on the Billboard new artists chart before moving to #20 on the Billboard Top 100 and selling 1 million copies worldwide (Gold or Platinum in 7 countries).
Spektor's ability to explore rich soundscapes and combine them with her evocative and intricately structured melodies and lyrics has grown tremendously on FAR. From the gripping lyrics of the first single LAUGHING WITH to the intoxicating beat of THE CALCULATION, from the multilayered vocal work on BLUE LIPS to the rocking EET, FAR is the work of a talented, daring and important artist.
Spektor will tour the world beginning in June. Tour dates to be announced soon.

THE FREDDY JONES BAND RETURN
WITH THEIR FIRST ALBUM IN A DECADE
Time Well Wasted
Out On April 14, 2009
Hometown Performance Scheduled In Chicago On March 21st
More Tour Dates To Be Announced
New York, NY – Throughout the 90's, The Freddy Jones Band built a loyal fan base through relentless touring across the U.S. Over the course of five major label releases for Capricorn Records: Waiting for the Night (1993), self-titled independent release The Freddy Jones Band (1993), North Avenue Wake Up Call (1995), Lucid (1997), and Mile High Live (1999), the band shared stages with the likes of Widespread Panic, Phish, Sheryl Crow, Dave Matthews, Blues Traveler, Ben Harper, Foo Fighters, Matchbox 20, and Big Head Todd among countless others.
Made up of Marty Lloyd (vocals and acoustic guitar), Jim Bonaccorsi (bass), Rob Bonaccorsi (guitar and vocals), Simon Horrocks (drums), and Wayne Healy (vocals and guitar), The Freddy Jones Band were a major touring force that had averaged nearly 200-250 shows a year by the end of the 90’s. However, at the height of their popularity the group disbanded.
“It was a sad time for FJB, commented Lloyd. “Rather than enjoying the success we were having at the time as a band, we focused on our inability to elevate to another level, and misdirected blame. It led to our disbanding. All five of us were left with some level of emptiness over the loss. Looking back, we should have put our heads down and continued writing our way into the future.”
After a 5-year hiatus, the original band reunited August 20, 2005 for the Riverview Music Festival in Chicago to a fantastic hometown crowd.
“I remember looking out at the audience and thinking oh yeah this is who I am and this is what has been missing in my life! I don’t know if we sounded any good, but it was the most fun I can ever remember having on a stage.”
For the next few years, the band regrouped for a handful of shows each year. They found that they had matured as people, friends, musicians, and songwriters and were performing better than ever. It was during this time when the band finally decided to finally document their current live show.
“It really started out as a way to simply remain relevant in some way, “ Lloyd said. “We didn’t want this to come to an end again.”
Besides recording live tracks, The Freddy Jones Band also decided to record their first new songs in almost a decade.
“Everyone had such an open mind,” Lloyd remarked. “We didn’t care who was writing, playing, or singing. If it was working we used it. We all accepted each other’s support and direction openly and as a team, and I think it shows in the recordings.”
Finally, on April 14, 2009, The Freddy Jones Band returns with Time Well Wasted. The new thirteen track album on Out The Box Records features ten classic live tracks recorded in 2007 at an intimate venue in Chicago, along with three brand new studio recordings: Home Thing, Contender & Empty Room.
