Dollar Tree and Operation Homefront of Illinois Kick Off the Holiday Toy Drive
(Chicago, IL – November 3, 2008) – Operation Homefront of Illinois (OH-IL), an organization providing emergency assistance and morale to military personnel and their families launched the Dollar Tree and Operation Homefront Holiday Toy Drive 2008 on November 1st. The holidays are as much about giving as receiving, and in these challenging economic times, military families often find themselves having to choose between paying the rent, and buying holiday toys for their children. OH-IL is looking for individuals to donate their time, energy, and experience to the Dollar Tree and Operation Homefront Holiday Toy Drive 2008.
Over 3,400 Dollar Tree and Deals stores around the country will be collecting toys and other items from November 1 through December 15, 2008. During this same campaign in 2007, over 4.5 million toys were collected and distributed to military families! Operation Homefront has a goal to collect over 5 million toys in 2008! This is why we need your help! Please stop by your local Dollar Tree store and purchase a donation to support our Illinois military and their families.
OH-IL has increased their presence in Illinois due to the increased scheduled deployment of Illinois troops. This will be the largest deployment from Illinois since the war in Iraq began. With these additional troops leaving, there will be an increased number of families needing support. While we hope for the best outcome, there will be additional servicemen and women who will return with injuries and will need the support provided by OH-IL and our supporters.
"Organizations, individuals, church groups or families are urged to support our military troops and the families they leave behind during deployment. This is your chance to make the holidays really sparkle for a military family," said chapter president Todd Schorle.
