About the Project
Chicago-based performance group Synapse Arts Collective presents Stridulate.
Co-directed by Rachel Damon (of Synapse) and multidisciplinary vocalist and performer Dan Mohr, Stridulate investigates partnerships of the voice and moving body.
The ensemble will meet weekly throughout the year for experimentation, play, and the collaborative development of a hybrid performance that treats the voice and the moving body as a single instrument.
Paid performances in early summer 2009, with touring potential beyond. DetailsWe'll be investigating the partnership of voice and movement in this free workshop, and invite those who are interested in the work to treat it as an audition. All are welcome; ideal participants will have considerable performance experience in either voice or movement, and at least some experience in the other field.Rehearsals Monday evenings, starting 10/6.
Reserve your place by emailing rachel@synapsearts.com.Questions also welcomed. Please bring a resume and be prepared to provide contact information for two professional references.
This project is funded in large part by ESS: CROSSCUT. Crosscut is a partnership of two organizations, Experimental Sound Studio and Links Hall, supporting new collaborations between local movement and sound artists.
Thank you to additional Stridulate supporters Hyde Park Art Center and Chicago Moving Company, an Arts Partner in Residence with the Chicago Park District.
