Heavy Water Experiments Releases Self-Titled Album
Critically Acclaimed Duo Formerly Known As “Imogene”
July 30th, 2008, Los Angeles, CA – Formerly known as Imogene, LA-based Heavy Water Experiments, have just released their debut CD – aptly entitled, “Heavy Water Experiments.”
HWE Founder David Melbye said this about the group’s sound and originality, ” Rather than simply reviving a particular decade, HWE is a band that challenges the parameters of popular modern rock with the use of unusual instruments such as the 8-string bass as well as attempting a broader range of material from heavier acid rock feels to mellower melodic approaches.”
So far, HWE has enjoyed a laudable degree of progress while still remaining independent. To date, the band has toured the US and the UK (twice) as well as performing a handful of shows in Holland and Belgium. They have received some great reviews in the process.
“…Worth checking out! Heavy, emotional and melodic…exquisite and gorgeous electric piano melodies and amazing vocals…The production is superb…the rhythm group creates a hypnotic feel and the harmonious vocals work extremely well too. I really like the singer’s voice! This is an excellent album in every way… this band could really make it in the indie market…”-- Psychotropic Zone (www.unimeri.com/PsychotropicZone/index.html) – November 2007
“While the band has quite an experimental side, they also have an accessible side…in a perfect world, they would get heavy rotation on radio and video stations…equal parts art, pop, prog, psych, and alternative…” -- Prognaut (www.geocities.com/prognaut) – February 2008
