UKULELE IN CHICAGO!
The Windy City Uke Fest hosted by the Tiki Terrace, Chicago’s Hawaiian Hideaway

Des Plaines, IL. – July, 2008 – The largest ukulele fest in the Midwest comes to Chicago this summer, Aug 1-3 at the beautiful Tiki Terrace restaurant and showroom! Popular artists, instructors, vendors, and ukulele fanatics from Hawaii, the mainland, Canada, etc. will make their way to the Windy City to take part in the festivities!

“It’s exciting to think about all the incredible talent coming to our restaurant from across the country,” says Scott Zuziak, owner of Tiki Terrace and co-producer of the Uke Fest. “We have been fortunate to host musicians from Hawaii in the past, but never to this scale!” Just a few artists in the performance line up:
Abe Lagrimas Jr. from Honolulu. 2007, nominated in the “Most Promising Artist” category of Hawaii’s Na Hoku Hanohano Awards
Kimo Hussey from Honolulu. Musician and writer of “He Mele Aloha”, the most thorough and recognized ukulele songbook today.
Ali Lexa from Los Angeles. Accomplished ukulele jazz musician and premier MC/radio host of “Uke Spot”, the hottest ukulele telecast in the country.
Victoria Vox from Maryland. The most traveled ukulele musician in the world!

Besides the renown performers scheduled to perform, the Uke Fest also focuses on seminars and workshops for beginners through advanced ukulele players! Terry Pencil, co-producer of the Windy City Uke Fest comments, “Never before has Chicago offered such a comprehensive schedule of workshops! There is something for everyone… whether it be classes for a beginning ukulele player, seminars for ukulele instructors, workshops designed to challenge the advanced player, kids programs, and more!” Two of the eleven instructors scheduled to host seminars:
Gerald Ross from Michigan. Artist since 1970 and has performed in concert with Bonnie Raitt, Arlo Guthrie, Doc Watson, and more!
Curt Sheller. Arguably, the most published musician of advanced and intermediate ukulele instruction in the world.

The Windy City Uke Fest also offers a fun social environment for the ukulele enthusiast! Participants will have the opportunity to meet other local players, find information about local ukulele clubs, meet some of the most talented uke players in the world, and join in many impromptu “Jam Sessions” with the other guests. Any level ukulele player is offered the opportunity to show his/her stuff on the “Uke Tube Stage” and then see their performances on You Tube. Several local and out of state vendors will be offering anything and everything having to do with the ukulele. And of course, Windy City Uke Fest merchandise along with special dining/cocktail menus will be available to attendees all weekend! Costs for the Uke Fest range from a $25 daily door charge to a $95 inclusive weekend pass that includes all seminars/workshops. For further information and tickets, please visit
