From
an early age, Dennis can remember seeing a band play an outdoor
performance near where he lived at the time. He was so impacted
by the band, he asked the band for their autograph more than
once between their songs. In retrospect, he obviously felt bad
for the band; being pestered like that, but it was there that
a love for live music was sparked.

Influenced
by the Beatles, David Bowie and the music and specticle of Kiss,
music became more of a prominent role in his life. His older
brother and sister had each influenced him in additional directions
of music. His brother Don infused the greats of the '60's including
Jimi Hendrix and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. His sister
Vickie infused music of the '80's including Prince and Gary
Numan.
With a whole
world of great music at his fingertips, Dennis found a love
for bands like, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Ministry, Misfits, Fields
of the Nephilim, Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie and the Banshees,
Dead Can Dance, Skinny Puppy and singers like Kate Bush, Sarah
Brightman, Lorrena McKennitt and Sarah McLachlan to name literally
a few.
Aside
from his love for music, Dennis has been involved with art,
and photography. Having created works of art in pencil, pen,
oil paints and even has made some carvings some time ago.

His
photography experience is equally as varied, from nature photography,
to wedding photography and concert photography in 35mm and digital
formats. |
In
1988, Dennis joined his friends in forming a band called "The
Killer Kitchen Utensils" and played drums with them up until
1990, the whole time continuing on his abilities with art. After
his departure, Dennis
took the opportunity to video record practices and performances
of the Killer Kitchen Utensils the way he always wanted to be
recorded.
In
1997, Dennis got his first computer and furthered himself into
a new realm of creative possibilites. In addition to creating
art on the computer, Dennis also worked on photo restorations,
alterations and finally, web design.
Having
regained communication with his old band mate, Andy Smith, he
learned that Andy is a bass guitarist for the band called Drop.
Wanting to help out as best he could, Dennis created the Chicago
Music Guide. It started exceedingly small with only a dozen bands
on the site, but it became clear early on that in order to do
this right, he would need a group of talented writers and photographers
who could do this city justice. He took on the role of Editor
while looking for more personnel including a web designer. Almost
4 years later and Chicago Music Guide now has over 20 volunteers
and contributors helping to make this site all it can be.
All these different creative areas that Dennis has involved himself
with are his greatest loves in life (next to his wife and son,
Johnathon).
